Hong Kong Bankruptcy Record Search

Use the Official Receiver’s Office for Hong Kong bankruptcy searches. Check search details, fees, name matches and status separately from combined lookups.

Quick answer

Use the Official Receiver’s Office electronic services when you need an official search or document. WeCredit presents bankruptcy information alongside other sources; it does not replace an official search or confirm that a name match identifies your tenant.

Choose the record you need

Personal bankruptcy, individual voluntary arrangements and company winding-up are different records. Read the official service instructions, current fees and identification requirements before submitting information. A search result and an official certificate may serve different purposes.

Review the result step by step

  • Record the exact search conditions and date.
  • Compare the name, available identifiers and case details using information obtained appropriately.
  • Distinguish an order date, a case reference and any discharge information.
  • Ask the original authority for current confirmation if an important status is unclear.

When there is no result

A search only reports what the selected source returned for those conditions. It is not an identity check, a guarantee of no debts or a complete tenancy history. Similar English names or spelling variants must not be automatically treated as the same person.

Hypothetical example

A bankruptcy result shares an applicant’s English name. Until identity is appropriately checked, retain it as an unconfirmed possible match.

Frequently asked questions

Does discharge immediately remove all old records?

Do not assume so. A record’s display, legal status and update date are separate matters.

Is the WeCredit fee the official search fee?

No. Check each service’s own current charges and the type of document it provides.

What should I do with a same-name bankruptcy result?

Record the search spelling, record date, case reference and identifiers actually supplied, then compare them with documents you have a legitimate reason to check. Similar English or Chinese names and aliases are leads, not verified identity. Mark an unresolved match as unconfirmed and use the relevant Official Receiver service when formal confirmation or current status is needed.

Are a record search and a non-bankruptcy certificate the same?

Identify whether you need a record search, a record document or a certificate of non-bankruptcy, then check that service’s current requirements, purpose and fee at the official portal. These products are not interchangeable, and the WeCredit lookup fee is separate from official search or certificate charges.
