Hong Kong tenancy guide
Write an Objective Rental Record
Prepare a factual Hong Kong rental record with dates, evidence, the other party’s response and unresolved points. Submission does not mean publication or approval.
Quick answer
Describe verifiable events in date order, link necessary evidence and distinguish personal observations from allegations and unanswered questions. Submission, moderation and publication are separate stages; a reviewed record is not a court determination.
Describe events precisely
- State the rental context without unnecessary identifying details.
- Record dates, agreed amounts and what actually happened.
- Attach the evidence needed to understand each event.
- Include the other party’s response and any later correction.
- Identify matters that remain disputed or unverified.
Neutral wording
| Avoid treating as a finding | Describe the evidence |
|---|---|
| “A fraudster” | The payment request and the discrepancy that still needs explanation. |
| “Never pays rent” | The rental periods, receipts and reconciled outstanding amounts. |
| “Confirmed damage” | The observed condition, photographs and any inspection findings. |
Protect unnecessary personal information
Review working copies for identity numbers, bank details and third-party information before sharing. Follow the submission screen’s evidence instructions; public editorial publication requires a separate review and is not authorised by an App submission alone.
Corrections and responses
Keep the relevant record version and identify the specific correction with supporting information through the support channel. Do not respond to a disputed record by publicly exposing more personal data.
Hypothetical example
Write: “The ledger shows no payment for that period as at the stated date. The other party says a transfer was made; reconciliation is pending.” This separates the record from the disputed explanation.
Frequently asked questions
Will a submitted record automatically become public?
No. Follow the platform’s moderation status and messages.
Does review mean the allegations were legally proved?
No. Platform review and a legal finding are different processes.
